Financial companies around the world have been subjected to a series of DDoS attacks. Attackers appear to be members of the Fancy Bear hacker group, which is credited with Russian origin and ties with the Russian special services, and demand a ransom in bitcoins.
According to CNews, most of the attacked companies are located in Singapore, South Africa and the Scandinavian countries. Fancy Bear fraudsters demand 2 MTCs from victims by a certain deadline, threatening with lengthy DDoS attacks. The repurchase amount is increasing every day "deferral".
Nevertheless, experts are sure that there is no formidable hacker group behind the attacks. Most likely, imitators only use the name Fancy Bear, at some point widely covered in the media , to intimidate victims.
The main argument in favor of this is the fact that the targets of Fancy Bear are often not commercial companies and the group does not require buybacks.
Recall that earlier BlockchainJournal did a detailed review of the main hacker organizations and figured out who hacked digital systems and why.
