Only a part of the population of the Russian Federation is positive about the development of modern technologies. Moreover, 60% of the total number consider themselves poorly informed on this topic. Such results were shown by a survey conducted by the NAFI analytical center in conjunction with the Digital Economy organization.
So, 44% of respondents rarely pay attention to news from the world of high technologies, and every fifth – 21% – is not at all interested in messages on this topic.
53% of Russians are happy to test new technical devices or programs. 56% of respondents would like to start or continue to learn how to use modern technology.
At the same time, 60% believe that innovation will solve many problems of Russian society, and 74% believe that they will make life easier and more convenient.
The most optimistic about the introduction of new technologies were expressed by Russians aged 18 to 24 years old, people with higher education, permanent employment and a high level of income.
The negative consequences of introducing new technologies into everyday life were more often indicated by women, people over 60, unemployed people, rural people, and also people with low incomes.
37% of them said they were anxious when interacting with modern technology. Every fifth Russian – 22% – had a bad experience using modern gadgets. 30% believe that technology does not provide any fundamentally new knowledge and opportunities, and 35% believe that the development of innovation is a danger in the long term.
“On the one hand, Russians are aware that the use of technology can make life easier and simplify routine tasks. At the same time, many people still have a distrust of technology, a negative outlook on progress in general. And most often this is due to the lack of a person's need to actively apply digital technology in his life.
However, most of the difficulties and prejudices can be avoided by increasing the digital literacy of people, while at the same time providing the appropriate infrastructure for the free use of technology, ”commented Leysan Baimuratova, head of research projects in the digitalization of the NAFI analytical center.
Note that an initiative survey was conducted in May 2019 among 1,600 people from 150 settlements in 50 regions of Russia. Respondents age: 18 years and older. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
