The developers of MetaMask, a browser extension to interact with decentralized Ethereum applications, have published information about user activity collected during a recent study of their behavioral metrics.
The study involved 275,000 users who agreed to provide developers with access to their basic metrics. 104 thousand users, however, refused to participate in the study. Thus, the research results reflect 72.6% of the MetaMask user base.
Two months ago, we’re learning how to use MetaMask.
Today, we're sharing our first of https://t.co/BPqbN5WeWq

It is noted that over the last two months, 89,000 new wallets were created using MetaMask, another 53,000 wallets were imported. At the same time, only in 79% of cases the process of creating new wallets was completed. This, the developers write, confirms their assumption that for some users, independent work with private keys is too difficult.
The number of users using MetaMask weekly was 65.5 thousand, for the whole of April there were 192 thousand. This includes users who interacted in some way with MetaMask, both those who simply checked the balance of their wallets and those who directly used decentralized applications.
According to the developers, if we add to these figures an estimate of the activity of users who refused to take part in the study, these values would be 90 thousand and 264 thousand, respectively.
In total, 1.1 million transactions were conducted through MetaMask in April, the estimated value for the entire user base was 1.51 million transactions. At that, 63% of transactions were carried out in the main Ethereum network, while 71,000 transactions were connected to other networks.
It is also noted that 76% of transactions in the main Ethereum network were initiated by decentralized applications, and the remaining 24% were initiated by the users themselves. 18% of transactions were associated with the transfer of tokens, 12% – sending ETH, 64% – other types of interaction with smart contracts.
The most popular applications in the Ethereum main network are 0x Universe, Cryptokitties, Dice 2 Win, Axie Infinity and Fork Delta; among all supported networks are Remix, 0x Universe, Cryptokitties, MyEtherWallet and Fork Delta respectively.
The data obtained, the developers noted, speak about the demand for applications of different directions, including games, collectibles, exchanges and developers' tools. They also drew attention to the popularity of the online compiler for the Solidity Remix language, which indicates that MetaMask is in demand among application developers.
Recall, according to a study by Diar , in April, the decentralized applications based on the Ethereum blockchain made transactions worth 776,000 ETH ($ 131.8 million), which was a record figure for the last four months.
