Bakkt cryptocurrency platform can launch Bakkt Pay mobile wallet for digital currencies for several months. To do this, the company, which is a division of the financial corporation Intercontinental Exchange, hired the famous UX-consultant Chris Peterson, who previously worked for Google. It is reported by The Block , citing informed sources.
Initially, Bakkt was supposed to become a platform for trading in supply bitcoin futures for institutional investors. Its launch has already been postponed due to protracted negotiations with regulators, in particular – the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). It is assumed that product testing will begin on June 22.
Nevertheless, Bakkt allegedly intends to expand the list of services and become a mobile wallet provider for making payments. This was indirectly indicated by the vacancy of the developer of mobile applications, which Bakkt opened in January.
The platform will also provide custody services to its customers. To this end, Bakkt acquired Digital Asset Custody Company (DACC) and entered into a partnership with BNY Mellon.
Recall that the estimated capitalization of Bakkt can already exceed $ 700 million.
