Cloudflare’s new service to increase the privacy of Internet users may prevent Roskomnadzor from blocking Telegram and other services, despite the efforts of the department. It is reported by The Bell.
The recently introduced WARP service for iOS and Android redirects device traffic through secure Cloudflare servers. This allows you to change the route of the data.
The developers note that WARP is not a classic VPN service, as it does not hide the IP address and does not guarantee complete user privacy. Nevertheless, the service does not collect personal data without the consent of a person, and Cloudflare assures that they will not transfer or sell any user data to third parties.
“WARP is designed to protect your data during transmission. This will help protect you from eavesdropping and data tracking while you are at your local coffee shop. It also ensures that your ISP does not collect data about your views, ”the company’s blog says .
In addition, it recently became known that Google is testing DNS over HTTPS (DoH) technology in the Chrome browser, and Mozilla will implement it in Firefox for US users. The essence of DoH is that it hides user DNS queries. By default, servers of the same Cloudflare are used to encrypt this data.
First of all, these technologies are aimed at protecting against commercial tracking. However, their use can also become an obstacle to blocking resources like Telegram or other services prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation, the publication notes.
Recall that in March Roskomnadzor demanded that VPN services connect to the registry of banned sites, most of which refused to cooperate .
The agency also continues to fight with the blocked Telegram, whose Russian audience has only grown since the block.
Today it became known that testing equipment to ensure "sovereign runet" will begin in the Urals.
