Mark Karpeles denied reports about the launch of the new blockchain project

The former head of the infamous bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox Mark Karpeles said that the information that appeared a day earlier that he plans to launch a new project in the blockchain area is not entirely correct. He said this in the comments of The Block .

According to a French entrepreneur who has been in Japan for the past several years, neither the blockchain nor the cryptocurrency will be involved in the Tristan Technologies model:

“We are working on cloud solutions, but at the moment all this has nothing to do with the blockchain. This is just a technology company. I don’t think that at the current stage it makes sense to work in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industries, ”said Karpeles.

However, the former head of Mt. Gox does not exclude that such an opportunity will appear in the future.

“Perhaps in the future we will do something on the blockchain, but now we have no such plans, ” he said.

In addition, Karpeles drew attention to the fact that Tristan Technologies cannot be considered a “new” company, since it has been around for about three years.

“This is not a new company, just all this time we have remained in the shadows. We did not want to be talked about before the [judicial] decision, ” he added, referring to the recent decision of the Tokyo District Court , according to which he was found guilty of forging documents and sentenced to four years of probation,

According to Karpeles, in the coming year, Tristan Technologies intends to launch a new operating system to improve security and speed up software integration. He also expressed the hope that the project will be long-term and will lead to the emergence of new services.

In April last year, it was reported that Mark Karpeles works as the technical director of the American VPN provider London Trust Media.

Once the largest Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox crashed in early 2014. This happened after the information appeared about its alleged hacking and theft of 800,000 BTC ($ 480 million at that time). In December last year, Carpeles, during his closing speech at a Tokyo court, called himself innocent of the events that caused the millions of client losses and the company's collapse.
