Cryptocurrency [Bitcoin] throughout the world should be banned, and those people who are engaged in its distribution should be prosecuted as speculators. This was stated in an interview with the Federal News Agency by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Nikolay Arefyev.

“I have only one opinion – this currency should not exist at all,” he said. – Because it interferes with the development of commodity production. And making money out of money is detrimental to the entire population of the earth. Those who work in this market are speculators. ”

Arefiev is convinced that such people should be prosecuted.

“And we, on the contrary, encourage such activities, considering that this seems to be a blessing for people. In fact, this is not an economy, this is speculation, and speculation is harmful to the economy of any country, ” he concluded.

In Russia, the status of cryptocurrency legislation has not yet been fixed. In the spring of 2018, the draft law “On digital financial assets” was introduced to the State Duma, but the text of the document underwent significant changes following the first reading. His second reading is expected in April.
