Buyers will again be able to purchase cryptocurrency coupons worth 50, 100 or 250 euros. The restart of the project affected those tobacco shops in which payment terminals from Bimedia, a partner of Keplerk, were already installed.
The project began in January this year with an experiment in six retail outlets in Paris. It was planned that next month the initiative will extend to 6,500 tobacco shops operating in the country.
However, on February 27, the sale of bitcoin coupons was suspended. As Adil Zahar, CEO of Keplerk, explained, one of the main reasons was the long duration of transactions.
“It took some people up to eight hours to receive bitcoins in their digital wallets ,” he said.
According to him, now the company has managed to significantly reduce transaction time, as well as reduce the commission. For a coupon worth 250 euros, it is now 5.5% instead of 7% earlier.
Initially, the company planned to include other cryptocurrencies in the initiative, but now it focuses exclusively on bitcoin.
According to the French publication, at the beginning of the year, sales under the Keplerk initiative were 2500-3500 euros per week.
Recall, earlier it became known that by 2020 , more than 25 thousand retail outlets in France will start accepting bitcoin for payment.
