Technology giant IBM continues to actively explore the possibilities of blockchain technology. The company has filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for patenting a web browser based on distributed registry technology.
According to the application, the browser will collect a predefined set of data during web browsing sessions, and then transfer them to peer network nodes for recording and storage on the blockchain.
The nature of the data collected will depend on the type of device on which the browser is used. For example, viewing pages from a desktop or from a home computer will require different settings.
In particular, the technology will allow you to collect data about visited pages, bookmarks, geolocation, installation of plugins and security updates.
At the same time, the IBM application states that "the invention provides a system for storing viewing information, while maintaining confidentiality and transferring it to the" hands of the user ", and not to a third party."
Note that IBM and the Indian telecommunications company Tata Communications have also joined the governing board to track changes to the Hedera Hashgraph network software.
“The Hedera consensus algorithm can provide all the benefits of PoW blockchains without sacrificing performance or privacy,” IBM said.
It is worth noting that IBM is the first major technology company to join the board. Its first participants were the Japanese financial holding Nomura Holdings, the German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, the international law firm DLA Piper, Brazilian large retailer Magazine Luiza and the blockchain division of Switzerland's largest telecommunications corporation Swisscom Blockchain AG.
Recall that in an exclusive interview with BlockchainJournal, the technical director of IBM Blockchain for Finance, Stanley Yoon, spoke about the company's blockchain initiatives and the dangers of a quantum computer for modern encryption systems.
