In the third quarter of 2019, Taiwanese electronics maker HTC will launch the EXODUS 1s blockchain smartphone with full Bitcoin node functionality, Bitcoin Magazine reports .

“In the EXODUS 1 model, we allowed people to manage their private keys, now we want to provide the opportunity to deploy a full node. This is technology for the free world , ”said company top manager Phil Chen.

At the moment, the bitcoin blockchain weighs about 200 GB, and every year it increases by 60 GB. However, EXODUS 1s can work with an abbreviated version of 10 GB, and for the full you will need an additional SD card.

The users of the new smartphone have already been advised to ensure the operation of the full node only with the help of a WiFi connection, warning about the processing of massive data and rapid discharge.

At the same time, the mining function at HTC is not going to be implemented yet, since bitcoin mining requires huge computational power.

It is noteworthy that the company does not exclude the addition of support for other blockchains in the future, in particular, Ethereum.

Recall that the first blockchain smartphone from HTC was introduced in October last year in Berlin. The device has a six-inch display, two dual cameras, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a 3500 mAh battery and the Android Oreo operating system.

Zion's mobile wallet, which runs in a trusted runtime environment, allows users to personally store private keys and conduct transactions through decentralized applications (Decentraland and Etheremon).

EXODUS 1 also adds support for Brave and Opera browsers.
