Interest in cryptocurrencies is growing again – in May, the number of search queries for the word “bitcoin” increased sharply, exceeding the values for the entire previous year. This is evidenced by Google Trends.

According to statistics, the greatest interest in Bitcoin is shown in Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana, followed by Austria and the Netherlands.

It is also noteworthy that in May Bitcoin was searched more often than US President Donald Trump, Tesla, or Internet star Kim Kardashian.

It should be noted that the number of search queries in May is comparable to the levels observed before Bitcoin prices took off to their historical highs at the end of 2017, as well as at the time of reaching the price peak in 2013.

The interest of users in Ethereum is also growing, although not at the same pace as it happens with the first cryptocurrency. So, analysts ConsenSys compared the search queries on the words "Ethereum", "climate change", "Jeff Bezos" and "Lionel Messi". During the short period in the autumn, the broadcast went to the leaders, but later, it nevertheless lost to its “competitors”.

Recall, usually the number of searches grows with the price of Bitcoin. In May, the cost of the first cryptocurrency grew at a fairly rapid pace, rising to a certain level above the $ 9,000 mark .
