Ron Paul, one of the most prominent supporters of cryptocurrency among the political establishment, believes that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) should withdraw from the process of regulating this new class of assets and allow it to develop naturally.

Such a statement is known for its libertarian views politician made at the conference Consensus 2019 in New York.

Stressing the importance of decentralized solutions, Ron Paul said:

“If you look at the money, we see complete centralization around the Federal Reserve system. It is their law that can be considered a means of payment. They do not allow competition. Moreover, in this device you do not even compete with gold and silver. This is a complete centralization, which is concentrated in the hands of people who print money. It is they who should be called scammers, ”said Ron Paul.

Despite his venerable age, a politician born in 1935, who also fought for the presidency of the United States in the past, is convinced that government regulation in its current form is a total evil.

“I would prefer the market to regulate itself. I do not want the government to take any part in this, unless we are talking about fraud … If you need regulation, the market itself should deal with this and it should not accept any financial incentives, ” said Ron Paul.

His most remarkable statement, however, was directly related to the SEC, whose representatives on the eve again made harsh statements regarding the cryptocurrency industry.

“Just get rid of the SEC. That would be perfect, ”added Ron Paul.

And this is a really interesting idea.

Recall that in 2017, Ron Paul appeared in the advertising video of the Coin IRA pension bitcoin fund on the national television channel FOX Business. In the video, he shares with the audience his “delight in the choice that Bitcoin offers.
