Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief and head of Forbes Media, called bitcoin “a high-tech cry for help” caused by a lack of public confidence in traditional currencies.
In an interview with ARK Invest, Forbes said that the first cryptocurrency can help “bypass the governments” of those countries where the authorities harm their citizens:
“Bitcoin has played a very important role in helping people in distress around the world: bypassing governments that want to control you, starve and hurt.”
In his view, digital assets can minimize the risk of currency manipulation by governments or regulators. That is why the authorities feel the threat in cryptocurrencies, Forbes emphasized.
The main task of Bitcoin now is to achieve the same level of trust that gold has, the head of Forbes is convinced. At the same time, he emphasized that gold had millennia for this, and Bitcoin can achieve the status of a trustworthy asset in record time.
Forbes noted the high volatility of cryptocurrencies, but said that it is much more important to pay attention to the development of methods for the real use of bitcoin.
Recall that earlier, Steve Forbes supported the cryptocurrency project Libra, suggesting that the new coin can replace the US dollar as a world currency and “eclipse bitcoin”.
