Investment Bank Goldman Sachs does not exclude the possibility of creating its own digital currency, following the example of how JPMorgan did it. About this in an interview with the French edition of Les Echos reported CEO of the bank David Solomon.
He said that Goldman Sachs conducts serious research in the field of tokenization of assets.
“We believe in the potential of this technology, which determines the creation of a stable digital currency based on a basket of currencies for cross-border money transfers. This is the direction in which the payment system will go, ”said Solomon.
According to him, Goldman Sachs can go the way of JPMorgan, announced the launch of its own digital currency. It is expected that testing of JPMorgan steablecoin from among corporate clients will begin soon .
"Of course! Many are looking in this direction. Probably, all the major financial institutions in the world look at the potential of tokenization, steyblockcoins and calculations that are not devoid of unnecessary difficulties, ”said Solomon.
He also noted that the development of digital currencies is closely watched by the authorities of different countries. And, according to Solomon, changes in regulation will definitely occur.
At the same time, the head of Goldman Sachs believes that large technology companies will rather cooperate with banks, rather than try to compete directly with them. So, as an example, he cited a joint project of Goldman Sachs and Apple in the field of bank cards.
Recall that in April, David Solomon during a meeting of the US House of Representatives said that his company does not plan to launch a platform for trading cryptocurrencies.
