The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has appealed to the Financial Services Authority (FCA) with a complaint against a FINTECH startup startup Revolut. The company allegedly brought false statistics on the spending of its users, writes the Independent .

So, on banners located in the London subway, Revolut indicated that 11,867 users of the service bought a roll with vegan sausage, and 12,750 customers ordered food delivery for one on Valentine's Day.

A spokesperson for Revolut admitted that the company simply invented the figures, since by law it has access only to information about the place and amount of the purchase, and not about the specifically purchased goods.

“We agree, on the banner there was no clear indication that it was fiction, ” said a startup representative.

As a rule, if the advertisement misleads the consumer, the company faces a fine, but what sanctions will be imposed on Revolut is not yet known.

We add that in addition to violating the law on advertising, a number of Twitter users accused Revolut of shaming single people.

“The company exploits people's personal expenses to make us think that loners are pathetic, ” wrote user Jonah Bein.

Recall that in December 2018, Revolut received a European banking license .
