Representatives of the GetETH cryptocurrency exchange confirmed that as a result of an error in the code and actions of hackers, they lost the funds of investors who invested in the purchase of investment smart contracts providing passive income.

“Due to the detected error in the code of the smart contract, a failure occurred in the algorithm for calculating the value of the token, which resulted in the blocking of all funds in the smart contract. The entire balance was withdrawn by the attackers at the time when the re-audit was conducted and measures were taken to eliminate the error, ”says a statement received by BlockchainJournal from the project.

Representatives of GetETH added that they “regret such a development of events and, for their part, are ready to reimburse to all willing investors a part of their amount (up to 50% in ETH) invested in the project during the 2019 calendar year”.

At the same time, specific dates and amounts that the platform intends to return to investors were not named.

“We can’t promise more precise terms and amounts for refunds, but we will do everything possible for this, ” added GetETH.

Earlier, the exchanges stated that using the proposed investment contract, it will be possible to receive passive income from the turnover of the company's products: casinos and exchanges, as well as from the referral program of the project. It was also claimed that the casino turnover since the launch was more than $ 1 million.

However, soon after the announced launch of the project, a number of investors addressed our publication, saying that they had lost their funds. At the time of publication on the GetETH website, there is still a message about "technical work".
