The American online trading platform eBay will not add support for digital currencies, Bloomberg reports .
Representatives of the company denied the rumors that had appeared earlier, noting that “cryptocurrencies are not accepted as payments on the platform and are not part of the payment strategy” of eBay.
Nevertheless, the company confirmed the authenticity of advertising banners, which have misled many.
"The advertisement mentions the fact that eBay has a variety of cryptocurrency-related products, for example, mining equipment."
Representatives of the site also noted that in case of any changes in this matter, they will certainly inform users.
"I know that many people like to pay cryptocurrency, just at the moment it is not in our roadmap," said the representative of eBay.
Recall that at the beginning of the week at a conference of Consensus 2019, crypto enthusiasts noticed an eBay ad with the words “Digital currencies. It happens on eBay. ”
Many in the community interpreted this as a launch announcement by a cryptocurrency payment platform, but even then some were skeptical of advertising and urged to wait for official confirmations.
