Cryptocurrencies are no longer so interesting to the public, and therefore regulation of the industry is no longer a priority for the authorities of the Russian Federation. This was announced by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, reports Fontanka.
So, the head of government believes that the hype around Bitcoin has subsided, but this phenomenon may be temporary.
He also recalled his statement last year about the need to legally enshrine basic concepts and translate cryptocurrency into the language of law.
"Now the popularity of cryptocurrency has declined, and regulatory issues may not be as relevant anymore," Medvedev said.
Recall that at the beginning of the year, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation called for “not to bury” cryptocurrencies, stating that the volatility of digital assets throughout 2018 did not affect the development of the industry as a whole.
