Bitcoin users have a new tool that allows them to instantly purchase cryptocurrency on the Lightning Network using bank cards. A solution called Olympus was introduced by Zap Wallet developer Jack Mullers.

According to him, the new tool is designed to bypass complex KYC procedures requiring services like BitPay and Coinbase.

I just published Announcing Olympus: Lightning-enabled fiat ramps by Zap

What if you could go from fiat in your bank account to non-custodial Lightning payments in seconds? What does onboarding the masses look like?

“Anyone can use their debit card, receive bitcoins directly through the Lightning Network and begin making low-cost microtransactions seconds after the purchase, ” Mullers wrote on his blog.

Olympus will be available in all versions of the Zap wallet (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux), but its use is not required, the developer said. According to him, the solution can be embedded in any other external applications or products.

Below is an example of buying bitcoin through the Zap desktop application.

Olympus is currently in beta and can be tested on zaphq.io and fiattolightning.com . A full launch of the product is scheduled for 2020.

“Will we wait for Coinbase and BitPay to add Lightning support?” Leave all this to the closed circle of the elite, which for many years has been presenting bitcoin in a distorted form and give them the opportunity to cross the finish line? To hell! In less than a year, I will complete all this myself , ”said Mullers.

He also noted that using the Zap wallet itself does not require user verification, but the option to buy bitcoin needs a KYC procedure, although at the very minimum level.

Recall that earlier this week, the sale of bitcoins for dollars with transfers via the Lightning Network was launched by the Sparkswap exchange.
