
Digital currency Rakuten Coin on the basis of the popular Viber messenger can be launched not only in Japan, but also in other countries, including Ukraine. About this in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of "New time", said the head of Viber Jamel Agua.
So, commenting on the launch of Facebook's own digital token Libra, the Messenger CEO noted that Rakuten and Viber also intend to distribute their currency among as many users as possible.
“Cryptocurrency is a serious topic. Rakuten announced his plans for cryptocurrency in Japan, and we plan to implement it on a global scale. There are some legal aspects because regulation is very different in each country. Today it is only in Japan, but we are open for ideas to launch cryptocurrency in other countries, such as Ukraine, ” Agaua said.
Note that Rakuten acquired all the shares of Viber back in 2014. In 2018, the number of registered users of the messenger exceeded a billion, according to data on the company's website .
Recall that the leading online retailer of Japan Rakuten plans to create its own digital currency Rakuten Coin, it became known early last year.
In addition, in March, the Japan Financial Services Agency registered the bitcoin exchange from Rakuten, and in April, the retail giant started registering for its potential users.
