Bank of England: Facebook's cryptocurrency will require tight regulation

Bank of England Governor Mark Carney commented on the Libra cryptocurrency Facebook launch initiative, stating that it must meet the “highest standards” in global regulation. It is reported by CoinDesk .

He noted that the UK Central Bank intends to “very carefully” study the Libra cryptocurrency together with various regulators, including the G7 countries, the Bank for International Settlements, the International Monetary Fund, and the Financial Stability Board.

At the same time, Carney remains “unbiased” with regard to Libra and technology that can facilitate cross-border remittances.

Recall that before the British regulator, the Minister of Finance of France , the US Congressmen and the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov, have already spoken about Facebook's cryptocurrency .
