Andreas Antonopoulos, a well-known entrepreneur and preacher of cryptophilosophy, almost canceled his participation in Blockchain Week 2019 in Hong Kong because of the news about possible participation in the event of an escort model.

I was invited to this conference. If they allowed it.

Good to know, adding the organizers to the blackest of blacklists.

    – Andreas M. Antonopoulos (@aantonop) February 28, 2019

In the text of the letter, published by Antonopoulos, a certain model agency Bright Models Ltd., offers to use the services of Russian models, translators and hostesses for “additional influence” on the audience of the event and attracting men.

“I was invited to this conference. If the organizers allowed it, it would be a direct violation of the contract, ”said Antonopoulos, referring to the fact that his contract of speaker forbids the use of models. “Blockchain speakers: you can and should prohibit this kind of behavior in your contract.”

In turn, the main organizer of the Hong Kong Blockchain Week 2019 – the NexChange company – stated that it was in no way connected with this model agency and did not enter into any agreements with it.

1/2 I am the main organizer of the Hong Kong Blockchain Week. Someone out there is a highjacking false information. We have made every effort

    – NexChange (@NexChanger) February 28, 2019

“We do not have a single idea of hiring Russian models. Someone used our event to spread false information. We do not approve of this type of activity, ”said the representative of NexChange.

Andreas Antonopoulos nevertheless expressed the opinion that the organizers nevertheless indirectly contributed to this situation.

"Not condone" is not enough in our industry. This is a widespread issue.

    – Andreas M. Antonopoulos (@aantonop) February 28, 2019

“The organizers set the tone for the conference, it does not happen in a vacuum. It is highly unlikely that such a marketing move would have been undertaken if the organizers had provided tough sanctions for their sponsors, ” he added.

In the comments, Twitter users accused Antonopoulos of shaming escort models. In response, he said that he was in favor of legalizing the sex industry, but he was opposed to the objectification of people and decided to participate in public events voluntarily.

Recall that in November 2018, BlockchainJournal reported that entertainment blockchain platform for adults SpankChain paid 30 webcam models $ 72,000 in SPANK tokens during the seven months of the project’s existence.
