has been released.

The Blockstream company has presented the largest update over the past eight months of c-lightning, the own implementation of Bitcoin micropayment protocol software, the Lightning Network. It is reported by CoinDesk .
The new release contains, in particular, plug-ins, which the company hopes will make it easier for developers to create new functionality for the payment network. Moreover, it is supposed to be understood by those who do not consider themselves coders.
The new version of c-lightning is an interface that supports plug-ins that are written in C, Go and Python. According to Blockstream engineer and plug-in author Christian Decker, this customization feature is one of those features that distinguish c-lightning from other Lightning Network implementations, for example, LND and Eclair.
“It was one of our first decisions. We could tell people what they can and cannot do, or we could give them the tools and the way to create the functionality that they themselves want, ”said Dekker.
According to him, the Blockstream team of engineers chose the second path, and by adding their own functions, users thus create a kind of own Lightning nodes.
“This opens up unlimited possibilities, ” added another Blockstream engineer, Rusty Russell.
Among the plug-ins already created, we can note a small monitoring tool that works in parallel with the node, monitoring its performance, as well as a small reconnaissance plug-in that pings other nodes and checks how they react. This tool is designed to help developers determine which parts of the network remain problematic.
The list of plugins will be updated as developers propose new ideas. This, as Russell joked, can not only be considered a hidden search for new employees for the company, but also fully meets the spirit of open source development.
The beta version of c-lightning (v0.6) was released in June 2018. In August of the same year, the creator of the Bitrated project, Nadav Ivgi, introduced the minimalistic graphical user interface Spark , which uses c-lightning as a backend.
