MasterCard has opened a number of vacancies for the development of the cryptocurrency direction. This is reported by The Block , citing the official website of MasterCard.
In particular, the company is looking for two leaders in the areas of “Product Development and Innovation – the Architect of Blockchain Solutions”, “Product Management – Cryptocurrency / Wallets”, as well as the Vice President of Blockchain Product Management.
According to the information published on the website, the new employees will work with "a multifunctional team focused on the development of franchises, legal compliance, products, laboratories, regions and technologies for the development of new products and services."
It is noteworthy that the two job descriptions also mention “wallet solutions” as part of blockchain projects that new employees will potentially lead.
It is not yet clear what exactly they will work on, however, in the light of MasterCard’s partnership with Facebook and its Libra project, it is possible that they can develop their own cryptocurrency wallet.
Recall, it was previously reported that MasterCard became one of the members of the Libra Association consortium, which will promote the digital currency Facebook.
However, later there was information that the project partners began to doubt its success due to regulatory pressure, and the head of Visa said that not a single company had officially joined Libra yet.
