Jamiroquai Brings Funky to the Metaverse Thanks to Partnership with The Sandbox

In The Sandbox, the iconic jazz-funk band Jamiroquai will deliver their “virtual insanity” classic to their virtual LAND.

Jazz-Funk Band Bringing its Virtual Essence to The Metaverse 

The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual environment and a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, on the 18th of May announced a partnership with Jamiroquai, the legendary jazz-funk band fronted by Jay Kay, to bring the band’s free-spirited character to The Sandbox. Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading brand management business, helped build the strategic partnership.

Jamiroquai is a London-based funk and acid jazz band. They were notable in the London-based funk and acid jazz genre of the 1990s, and were fronted by vocalist Jay Kay. They began with an acid jazz sound and gradually incorporated rock, disco, electronic, and Latin music influences. The group has tackled social and environmental justice in their lyrics. Through multiple lineup changes, Kay has remained the lone original member.

The Grammy-winning band is best known for the global smash “Virtual Insanity,” as well as a string of hit albums and international tours. They have sold over 27 million albums worldwide. Travelling Without Moving, the band’s third album, set a Guinness World Record for the best-selling funk album of all time.

The Sandbox included an animated version of the “Virtual Insanity” video, giving the audience and fans what to expect in the virtual real estate from Jamiroquai.

The Sandbox Metaverse Vision 

The Sandbox, which is half virtual real estate and part amusement park, fully embraces the concept of the metaverse as a shared digital realm where worlds and heroes combine to create magic.

Ubisoft, The Rabbids, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, The Smurfs, Care Bears, Atari, ZEPETO, and CryptoKitties are among the more than 200 existing partnerships, all of which share The Sandbox team’s vision of empowering players to create their own experiences using both original and well-known characters and worlds.
