The Outlier Ventures State of Blockchains Q3 report states that over the year, the volume of venture capital investments in the blockchain industry has grown about three times.
Last year, the volume of venture capital investments in blockchain and crypto companies amounted to $ 900 million, and from the beginning of 2018 this figure reached $ 2.85 billion. Thus, the increase was 316%. As before, most venture capital deals in blockchain projects occur in the USA.
Also, researchers note a significant decline in activity in the field of primary offers of coins (ICO). So, if in the first quarter of this year, ICO-projects attracted $ 3.8 billion, in the third quarter this figure was only $ 1 billion.
In addition, the company noted that ICO-investors now prefer to invest more in more or less mature projects that have a minimally viable product.
Several other figures are given by Diar. In October, its researchers reported that in the first three quarters of 2018, venture capital investments in blockchain- and cryptocurrency start-ups amounted to $ 3.9 billion.
