modular cryptographic library.

The Hyperledger Technical Steering Committee approved the Ursa project, a modular cryptographic library for solution developers based on distributed registry technology.

According to Hyperledger, as the project matures, the project is increasingly in need of complex cryptographic solutions. One of them and is intended to be Ursa, which will help in the transition from the implementation of individual protocols to work with the common library.
The project should prevent waste of time arising from working on duplicate solutions, as well as improve security by simplifying the analysis and reducing the likelihood that less experienced users will create their own unsafe implementations.
It is also assumed that Ursa will provide expert evaluation of the entire cryptographic code and simplify cross-platform compatibility, since the projects will use a common library.
The library itself is divided into two small groups: the first contains simple, standardized, modular cryptographic algorithms, the second – “more exotic cryptography”. Examples of the latter include, for example, SNARKs and aggregated signatures.
The Ursa code is written primarily in the Rust language, but the software will also support the interfaces of all languages commonly used in Hyperledger.
Recall that in October , a partnership was announced between the Hyperledger Project and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. Its goal is to create uniform standards for corporate distributed networks developed by the participants of these two organizations.
