In the future, the Visa payment system may start working with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, if it sees that they are becoming a real payment instrument. Such a statement in an interview with CNBC was made by the CEO of the company Al Kelly.
According to him, in the short term, cryptocurrencies do not pose a threat to Visa, but the payment giant is ready to implement new systems if digital currencies are more recognized.
“In order for us to feel more comfortable in this environment, there must be a certain market, something akin to fiat currencies. In any case, no threat of cryptocurrency is being borne by us, ”said Kelly.
At the same time, he allowed the possibility that at a certain stage Visa would start working with cryptocurrency.
“If the case goes in this direction, we will go in that direction. We want to be in the middle of all the payment flows in the world. It doesn't matter how it will happen or what the currency will be like. But now it’s more a commodity than a payment instrument, ” Kelly added.
