Russia considers cryptocurrency as a substitute for the US dollar, Vladimir Putin on the G20

Cryptocurrency analyst and founder of Morgan Creek Digital Anthony Pompliano analyzed the recent statement by the President of the Russian Federation and concluded that Russia is exploring the possibility of widespread use of cryptocurrency instead of the US dollar.

During his speech, the President of the Russian Federation was quite frank with criticism of the dollar and said that the world would look for alternative payment systems:

“We do not have a goal to get away from the dollar, the dollar goes away from us … because the volatility of dollar transactions forces many economies around the world to look for alternative reserve currencies and create payment systems that are not dependent on the dollar. This is the result of the introduction of sanctions, including those related to the dollar. I think this awareness will come sooner or later, and the world will look for alternative savings and transaction methods. ”

Pompeliano noted several hidden between the lines of speeches statements confirming his version. First of all, the analyst noted that Putin used terms familiar to the cryptocurrency community – alternative reserve currencies, payment systems, alternative savings and transaction methods.

“It would not surprise me if the Russian leader not only knows about digital currency, but is also a fan of it. Putin seems to say that there is already a plan that defines an alternative to the dollar, and movement has already begun in this direction. It is interesting to see which countries will choose to follow him and which countries will prefer to stay with the USA , ”comments Pompiano.

The most interesting part of this speech, the analyst believes, is that Putin did not say. The president never mentioned Bitcoin:

“It was the most frank statement supporting the ideas behind Bitcoin that I saw from the world leader, but the digital currency was not mentioned. Earlier it was reported that Russia helped the formation of the digital currency of Venezuela – Petro. If this is true, it seems that Putin and Russia are already more involved in the cryptocurrency space than most developed countries. ”
