Ripple closed a $500 million capital round in November 2025 at a $40 billion valuation after a historic XRP rally. The operation, led by Fortress Investment Group with strategic participation from Citadel Securities, affects institutional investors, crypto markets and the company’s treasury strategy. The move strengthens Ripple’s ability to accumulate liquidity and expand its product initiatives.
The $500 million injection arrives amid a strong revaluation of XRP: the token’s market capitalization reached between $90 billion and $120 billion in the third quarter of 2025, and the rallies included highs of around $2.9 in December 2024, according to the compiled report.
Ripple manages its XRP supply via an escrow mechanism with monthly releases; typically 1 billion XRP are unlocked each month and part is relocked, which gives the firm the ability to modulate market liquidity. In balance-sheet terms, the document records approximately 36.4 billion XRP in escrow and 5 billion in liquid reserves.
Investors read the round as a vote of confidence and a vehicle for Ripple to increase its XRP holdings, generating unrealized gains for the company. At the same time, the market has reacted to expectations of XRP ETF approvals —with explicit mentions of BlackRock and high probabilities of approval in 2025— alongside significant flows from institutional investors and large holders (“whales”).
Implications for Ripple and regulatory outlook
The operation strengthens Ripple’s liquidity and its ability to intervene in the XRP market, providing additional capacity to support product expansion and market participation.
It increases the likelihood of larger corporate initiatives —including a possible IPO— while preserving risks of concentration and token volatility, which remain central considerations for investors.
On regulation and compliance, Ripple continues advancing despite previous SEC disputes; additionally, the company seeks a banking license, a step that could integrate its products into traditional financial infrastructure under stricter oversight.
The next relevant milestone is the outcome of the ETF approval process and progress toward a possible banking license; both will determine whether the XRP accumulation strategy and the $40 billion valuation translate into sustained growth or episodes of high volatility for investors and counterparties.
