Paxful: 17,000 transactions are made daily in Africa using gift cards

According to the Paxful p2p platform, more than 17,000 p2p transactions are made daily in Africa to buy Bitcoin, according to CCN .

Most African Paxful users use iTunes and Amazon gift cards as a means of payment. The latter can be bought for local fiat currency.

In the screenshot you can see that, indeed, these payment methods are in the top of the payment options.

Africa is currently the main market for the Paxful platform. In 2018, the total volume of p2p transactions using iTunes gift cards amounted to $ 300 million; using Amazon cards – about $ 165 million. Bank payments on this continent are not so common – they account for less than $ 50 million.

It is also noteworthy that the bearish trend of 2018 did not reduce the trading volumes on the Paxful platform. For example, p2p-trading in bitcoin is growing steadily in Kenya:
