Cryptocurrency investors Chad Elvartovski and Nadya Summergergerl, who built the houseboat for trading income, started off on the run. Thai authorities accuse them of violating the country's sovereignty, writes the Bangkok Post portal.

According to a report by the Thai border guards, the empty house of Chad and Nadi was discovered at a distance of 12 nautical miles from the coast of Phuket.

“Our fleet found a floating concrete box without inhabitants. A lawsuit has been filed with the charges under Article 119, ”the official statement reads.

In turn, Chad Elvartovski insists that their house was located 13 miles from the border, that is, was in neutral waters and did not obey the laws of any country.

However, the official claim against the couple has already been confirmed by the Phuket police. If Elvartovsky and Summergerl are found guilty, they could face the death penalty. Thai authorities stress that the promotion of floating houses "threatens the sovereignty and integrity of the country."

Construction of the house cost the enthusiasts $ 150 thousand.

Recall that in May 2018, a group of philanthropists, scientists and investors in partnership with the Government of French Polynesia developed a project of a sovereign floating state in the Pacific Ocean that would use its own Varyon cryptocurrency for calculations.
