Opera has added support for Tron (TRX) cryptocurrency, as well as TRC standard tokens in the crypto-wallet of the Opera browser.
Last year, the Opera team for the first time introduced a crypto wallet for use in the browser of Android devices. The presentation of the development took place in December 2018 – the wallet was supported by Ethereum (ETH) and the decentralized applications of this project. Already in March, Opera released the same application for iOS gadget holders; in April, the world saw a desktop version of a browser with support for crypto functions.
As the company actively seeks to develop Web 3.0, supporting another major blockchain, according to a press release, will allow hundreds of millions of Opera users to play Tron games without any problems, as well as interact with Tron decentralized applications. Through the integrated user interface, users will have access to a variety of new crypto functions – for this, there is no need to install additional applications or extensions.
Opera representatives are also interested in developing blockchain-based applications for their own ecosystem. To achieve this goal, the company decided to establish cooperation with Ledger Capital.
By the way, the other day it became known that the technical director of Tron left the team. He explained his decision by saying that the project is no longer decentralized and does not pursue the original goal. More details can be found here .
