Bitmain, the largest manufacturer of mining equipment, introduced a 7-nanometer ASIC chip called BM1397, focused on the SHA256 algorithm [primarily Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash].

Representatives of the company stressed that BM1397 consumes 28.6% less energy than the previous version. In this case, the ratio between energy and computing power is about 30 J / terahesh.

The new chip is based on a 7-nanometer FinFET processor from Taiwan's TSMC.

Bitmain will integrate the development into ASIC devices S17 and T17, which will be released soon.

Recall that in September 2018, Bitmain introduced the BM1391 chip with an energy efficiency of 42 J / terahash.
