Law enforcement authorities detained the former hockey player of the Slovak “Slovan” Igor Musatov in Moscow. He was on the federal wanted list for a $ 800,000 Bitcoin fraud case, TASS reports citing informed sources.

According to the investigation, in early 2018, Musatov agreed to sell bitcoins for $ 800 thousand (at that time 45.3 million rubles) to the entrepreneur Abelyan V. and convinced the latter of the successful transfer of the cryptocurrency. Apparently, Abelyan never received the promised coins.

Musatov is charged with especially large-scale fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The accused does not admit his guilt, and his lawyer insists that this is a civil law relationship.

The court will appoint a preventive measure on Monday, September 16.

Recall, the Polish prosecutor has charged fraud to the co-founder of the Bitcoin exchange BitMarket. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
