American broker E-Trade intends to provide its customers with the opportunity to trade in cryptocurrencies, reports Bloomberg , citing informed sources.

At first, Bitcoin and Ethereum will be available on the E-Trade platform, but later the company will add support for other cryptocurrencies. Additional details are not yet known.

According to the publication, E-Trade can become one of the largest American companies providing the opportunity to trade in cryptoactive assets. The appearance of digital currency on this well-known platform is a sign of their mass acceptance in the world of finance. E-Trade will also compete with such well-known market players as Coinbase and Robinhood, whose market value is about $ 8 billion and $ 5.6 billion, respectively.

Recall that at the beginning of last year, E-Trade launched CME Group bitcoin futures trading. Prior to this, the broker provided clients with access to trading in bitcoin derivatives of the CBOE exchange.
