In Russia, fraudsters deceived cryptoinvestors for $ 40,000 with the help of the “fun bank” tickets


The Kazan court began to consider the case of bitcoin fraud. From February to April, four attackers cheated cryptoinvestors during the exchange of Bitcoin for rubles, writes "BUSINESS Online".
The defendants were looking for those who wanted to cash cryptocurrency. During a personal meeting, they showed a cash envelope with a stipulated amount, and the victims transferred the bitcoins to the intruders' wallet. Then the fraudsters distracted the victim and changed the envelope with real money for the “fun bank” tickets.
A source familiar with the case materials said that in this way the attackers took possession of 2.7 million rubles ($ 40,000).
Once, when the worked-out scheme did not work, one businessman was allegedly put in a car, taken out of town, where a businessman threatened to give passwords from cryptocars. The publication reports that while the entrepreneur lost 1.7 million rubles ($ 25 thousand).
At the moment, two scammers are in jail, two more – under house arrest. A criminal case has been opened for fraud and robbery. They face up to five years in prison.
