Gram cryptocurrency on the TON blockchain from Telegram will be launched until October 31,

The Gram cryptocurrency from the Telegram messenger will be launched in the next two months. About it writes The New York Times , citing investors of the project.

According to three investors who received a corresponding notification from Telegram, the first tokens will arrive in their accounts until October 31. Otherwise, the company will have to return money to investors.

Given this circumstance, Telegram is going to release cryptocurrency before the mentioned date.

Sources of the publication wished to remain anonymous, as they signed a non-disclosure document, so far there are no comments from Telegram.

According to NYT, the work on creating the Gram messenger is conducted in an atmosphere of secrecy, which may cause additional questions from regulators. In particular, the latter are worried about the possibility of using cryptocurrency for money laundering and drug trafficking.

Note that NYT did not give any fundamental new information. Other publications have previously reported that the launch of the Telegram Open Network (TON) will take place in the third quarter of 2019. As it was stated then, the testing of the platform was successfully completed and its results confirmed the compliance of the blockchain and the consensus algorithm with the goals stated in white paper.

TON private testing started in April. The capabilities of the blockchain platform were tested by several professional teams consisting of developers from around the world, including Russia.

Earlier in August, it was reported that a number of investors in the Telegram Open Network ICO were dissatisfied with the delay in launching the project and, in violation of the agreement, began selling Gram tokens in the secondary market.
