The date for the introduction of the law on isolation of the Russian segment of the Internet is proposed to be postponed to November 2019. According to RNS, this initiative was made by the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications.

At the same time, provisions on cryptographic protection of information and on the national domain name system will come into force on January 1, 2021, the head of the committee Leonid Levin specified.

It is noted that this proposal will be considered during the second reading of the bill . Previously, information on the timeline for the entry into force of the law did not appear in open sources.

In turn, the head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, believes that the bill
will help his department in the fight against resources prohibited on the territory of Russia, including the Telegram messenger, since it involves “preventing the dissemination of prohibited information in the Russian Federation”.

Recall the bill to isolate Runet was adopted in the first reading on February 7. The implementation of its requirements will cost the state budget at least 30 billion rubles .
