The Federation Council approved the law on isolation of the RuNet

The Federation Council adopted a law on the isolation of the Russian segment of the Internet. This is stated in a press release.

The law was passed almost unanimously – 151 senators spoke in favor of its approval, four voted against and only one abstained. Now the document will go to the signing of President Vladimir Putin.

Recall, the State Duma finally adopted the law on the isolation of the Russian segment of the Internet in the third reading last week.

It is supposed that it will come into force already from November 1, 2019, and its separate provisions (on cryptographic protection of information and on the national domain name system) from January 1, 2021.

At the same time , at least 30 billion rubles will be allocated from the state budget for the implementation of the norms of the law.
