The developer of software for the online voting system in the Moscow City Duma called the cause of the failure

The developer of equipment and software for the blockchain system of electronic voting at the elections to the Moscow City Duma, the company "CryptoPRO" called the cause of its failure a violation of the rules of operation of the equipment. This was announced by RBC representatives of the company.

According to them, the Department of Information Technology (DIT) did not configure the possibility of using a backup system in case of failure of the main, despite the availability of necessary funds.

DIT disagrees with the accusations and believes that the problem was on the side of CryptoPro:

“This is still their equipment, they supply and install it. The reason is still incomprehensible, they have not voiced it, which is why the failure occurred, ” said Artem Kostyrko, deputy director of the Moscow DIT.

He also added that the department “has all the logs with failures of this equipment”, and he is ready to publish the data.

Recall that in the elections to the Moscow City Duma, for the first time , a blockchain-based electronic voting system was used . As a result of failures, more than a thousand votes did not pass.

In August, French cryptographer Pierreck Godry cracked the system in just 20 minutes .
