Digital currencies need to be explored in connection with the “relevance of cybercrime”. This was stated by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Konyuk at the conference of the International Association of Prosecutors held in Minsk, the KP Belarus writes.

At the conference, representatives of the prosecution offices of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Russia and other countries discussed the protection of personal data, the threat of cyber-terrorism, and also spoke about cooperation in the field of combating crime.

“The relevance of cybercrime is obvious. Many new concepts have appeared, we have to study this situation with the same Bitcoin, cryptocurrency. These are things that come into our lives. For example, a cryptocurrency is a serious risk of tax evasion. At present, there are no such units in the prosecutor’s office, but there are special units in the State Control Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the UK – they deal with these issues, ”said Belarusian Attorney General Alexander Konyuk.

Law enforcement officials are not well versed in the development of the cryptocurrency industry, admitted Gerhard Yarosh, President of the International Association of Prosecutors.

“Cybercrimes are actual crimes, and prosecutors need to understand them. After all, we are not so well versed in technology and software, so today prosecutors will discuss this topic, ”he said.

Recall that Belarus was one of the first CIS countries, whose authorities turned their close attention to the cryptoindustry and developed regulatory standards for it.

So, at the end of 2017, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree that legalizes mining and cryptocurrency.

In addition, the High Technology Park (HTP) was created in the country, which is developing blockchain technologies. About that, what changes felt the country's economy after the legalization kriptovalyutnyh operations, why the National Bank of Belarus does not build barriers, but on the contrary strongly supports kriptovalyutnuyu industry, BlockchainJournal learned in an interview with the press secretary HTP Dmitry Titov and one of the leading decree developers, senior partner of the law firms "Aleinikov and partners" Denis Aleinikov.
