Investments in blockchain technology reached nearly $ 3 billion

Since 2016, global investments in blockchain technology have increased five-fold and their total volume has reached $ 2.7 billion. This was stated by Olga Skorobogatova, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, writes TASS.

According to her, these figures testify to the interest of states in the new technology.

“Against the background of investments in other technologies, this is not so much, but this is significant growth, which confirms that the technology itself is interesting, invest in it and modify it, because it is still far from ideal, ” Skorobogatova said.

She also noted that the effect of using blockchain in different industries is not the same.

“So far, distributed registries have not confirmed their ability to replace the processing systems of payment systems and online transactions, especially cross-border ones …. Letters of credit, guarantees, securities – you can really see the effect there, ”Olga Skorobogatova emphasized.

Earlier it became known that in the draft federal budget for 2020-2022, a total of 349 million rubles was allocated for the development of blockchain technology.
