Rosseti North Caucasus found in Ingushetia a large-scale theft of electricity for mining cryptocurrencies. The amount of stolen electricity would be enough to provide one of the regions of Ingushetia for two weeks or a month's work of a republican hospital, the company’s website says.

During the planned work in the city of Sunzha, experts identified illegally connected equipment for the extraction of cryptocurrencies. The amount of stolen electricity is estimated at more than 160 thousand kW⋅h.

Information about the theft was transmitted to law enforcement officers who will be involved in determining the exact amount of damage.

“The amount of compensation will be calculated based on the maximum possible consumption of connected equipment around the clock since the last inspection. In addition, the energy conservator will pay the penalty stipulated by applicable law, ”the Rossetei website reports.

The press service also emphasized that the company has stepped up efforts to curb cases of illegal electricity consumption.

Recall, this is not the first recent case of a major theft of energy resources of a company for mining cryptocurrencies. In September, also in Ingushetia, the Rosseti North Caucasus revealed theft of electricity worth more than 130 million rubles.
