In Kyrgyzstan, the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes (GSBEP) discovered a large mining farm that consumed about 7 megawatts of electricity – like several urban areas. This is reported on the official site GSBEP.

The farm was registered under the guise of a computer lab. During the search, law enforcement officers seized more than 8,000 functioning devices for the extraction of cryptocurrencies.

“According to the customs value of miner models, the total amount was 1 billion 499 million soms (more than $ 21 million), for which the amount of unpaid and unpaid customs payments amounted to more than 183 million soms (about $ 2.6 million),” says press release GSBEP.

Miners monthly consumed electricity for 13-14 million soms (about $ 190 thousand), which is equivalent to the energy consumption of several districts of Bishkek.

The mining farm was supplied by a Kyrgyz citizen who was the founder of the LLC and at the same time one of the farm owners. Since 2018, the company received 21 million soms (more than $ 300 thousand) for its intermediary services, but did not pay taxes to the treasury.

It is noteworthy that in a press release, GSBEP expressed its negative attitude towards both mining and cryptocurrency in general.

"The production and circulation of cryptocurrencies negatively affects the internal functions of the state in terms of monetary and financial regulation, budgetary regulation, ensuring public order and national security (monetary funds may be used to finance questionable organizations, criminal groups, etc.)", – said in a statement by the department.

Now the owners of the farm have started a case on several articles at once – about tax evasion, customs duties and laundering of criminal proceeds.

Earlier, Rosseti North Caucasus discovered the illegal connection of mining farms. The damage from the theft of electricity is about 4.4 million rubles.
