BitBay Cryptocurrency Exchange conducted a survey among users from Poland in an attempt to create a portrait of the local community and find out what coins and for what purposes they use, reports CoinDesk .

Immediately it should be noted that the survey indicates an extremely low involvement of women in the cryptocurrency industry. 90% of respondents are men, of which 50% are under forty. The largest demographic group were men from 31 to 35 years old.

Most users own more than one cryptocurrency, but Bitcoin remains the most popular. Every third person owns Ethereum, Lisk and Ripple.

Nine out of ten respondents consider cryptocurrencies a safe way to make transactions, but most have never made a purchase with their help. Those who used digital coins as a method of payment, purchased electronics, food and paid for services during travel.

More than 50% of respondents indicated that they would like to pay for car-related services and food products in cryptocurrencies. Despite the existing difficulties, the surveyed users are mostly convinced that the popularity of cryptocurrency payments is still ahead.

BitBay de facto remains the largest Polish bitcoin exchange, however, it was legally forced to move to Malta after the refusal of Polish banks to service accounts. Its operator is Pinewood Holdings Limited.

It was founded in 2014 in the city of Katowice and became the first platform for trading cryptocurrencies in the country.

Recall that the Polish authorities are skeptical about the cryptocurrency industry.

For example, the Polish Fiscal Service (KNF) last year launched a media campaign designed to inform citizens about the risks associated with investing in digital assets. At the same time, the ministry stressed that the existing regulatory framework does not prohibit trade in cryptocurrencies.

From January 2019 in Poland, users of cryptocurrency are subject to a capital gains tax of 19%, which must be paid when converting to fiat funds.
