Bitcoin mixing service Bitcoin Blender ceased operations shortly after asking all users to withdraw funds to third-party wallets. At the moment, the onion address of the service on the Tor network is unavailable, reports Bleeping Computer .
Note that Bitcoin Blender was launched in 2014. Representatives of the project did not disclose the reason for the closure, but it may be related to the situation around a similar service Bestmixer, which the Dutch authorities last week accused of laundering $ 200 million.
Mixing involves breaking down the amounts in bitcoins into smaller transactions and mixing them with transactions from other sources in order to hide their origin. Such services charge a fee of 1-3%.
In anticipation of the closure, the proposed Bitcoin Blender administrator has posted a message on the bitcointalk.org forum.
Recall that over the past few months, law enforcement officers from different countries have closed the darknet-marketplaces of Wall Street Market and Silkkitie. One of the leading markets in the deep web Dream Market also ceased operations.
In addition, the Deep Dot Web darknet information resource was closed, and its administrators were arrested for money laundering.
