Ethereum's $ 1 million coins were transferred from QuadrigaCX to other sites in December, on the eve of the death of Gerald Kotten, founder of the exchange. It is reported by CoinDesk .

Some transactions from the QuadrigaCX hot wallet for a total of more than 9,000 ETH were sent to the Binance, Kraken and Poloniex exchanges. At the same time, payments for 5,000 ETH were made between December 2 and 8, just before Gerald Kotten’s death . Most of the broadcast, sent from the wallets of the exchange this week, turned out to be the largest crypto-exchange in Binance.

It is not clear who exactly initiated these transactions – users or representatives of the exchange. However, these cryptocurrency flows were under the scrutiny of the community.

On the other hand, it is possible that these large transactions were performed by representatives of QuadrigaCX, who needed to convert cryptocurrency into Fiat to finance the company's operating costs. It is worth noting that the payment processing servicing the exchange closed the bank account of the platform last year, blocking $ 22 million.

In turn, Binance, Kraken, Poloniex and Bitfinex have not yet responded to CoinDesk requests for transactions from QuadrigaCX wallets.

Another open question is how much money QuadrigaCX kept in the cold storage and how much in the hot wallets. According to a statement from the court of Kotten's widow, Jennifer Robertson, the company kept only a “minimum amount of coins” on a “hot” wallet with access to the Internet.

According to Jesse Powell, CEO of Kraken, the QuadrigaCX story is “weird and incredible.” At the same time, “thousands of addresses” are associated with the exchange.

Recall, the QuadrigaCX exchange cannot access wallets with users' funds with approximately $ 190 million. Now a conflict is brewing between the lenders of the problem site.
