Roskomnadzor fined Google 700 thousand rubles for refusing to filter content

Roskomnadzor has moved from threats to actions: the agency fined Google Corp. by 700 thousand rubles because of a decrease in the intensity of content filtering prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation. It is reported by Medusa.

Roskomnadzor noted that Google filters traffic selectively and over one third of the links prohibited by Russian law are still displayed in search results.

It is worth noting that in December the company was already fined 500 thousand rubles for refusing to connect to the registry of sites banned in the Russian Federation (FGIS) for filtering search results.

In April, the head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, said that Google removes 80% of sites with prohibited content, and expressed confidence that the agency would ensure that the company filtered 100% of such resources. However, in May this figure dropped to 67.5%.

Recall, the new agency warned the fine in early June.
