Putin explained to the author of the channel “Diary hacha”, why they passed the law on sovereign runet

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented live on the need to isolate the Russian segment of the Internet. Amiran Sardarov, author of the popular YouTube channel “Hach Diary,” asked the head of state a question during the “Direct Line”.

So, Sardarov said that bloggers and Internet users are wondering why they need a law on sovereign runet. He noted that “from the outside it looks as if we are trying to isolate the Iron Curtain from the outside world again.”

Vladimir Putin, in response, said that we are not talking about any restrictions, and the law is aimed exclusively at protecting the Russian segment of the Internet.

“Most of the servers are abroad … And if we assume that these servers will be shut down or somehow affect their work, then in any case we must ensure reliable operation of the RuNet. This is what the law itself is directed at, ”the Russian president said, stressing that the new rules are designed to provide the opportunity for Internet users to“ everyone – both individuals, and bloggers, and government organizations. ”

It is worth noting that today the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Noskov, said that the runet will never be disconnected from the global network.

“Of course, there are no crazy people, this will not happen. The Internet is open by definition, there are no questions here, ”said Noskov.

At the same time, he noted that the law on sovereign runet was aimed exclusively at his defense.

“Of course, we are working to protect ourselves from risks when we, as a country, are simply disconnected from the Internet. This is the risk – it exists, we need to be protected from it. But we ourselves will never do this, of course, there is no logic in it. Therefore, security – yes, disconnecting from the global Internet, of course, no. ”

Recall, Vladimir Putin signed the law on sovereign runet in early May. In June, however, the rules for isolating the Russian segment of the Internet were published on the government ’s website, according to which, among other things, in the event of threats, a regime of centralized management of Internet traffic is introduced.
